Microcystin levels continue to stay below the advisory levels. Below are the sample results from the 8/1 pull. The lake does have algae growing. We are experiencing a more green color and higher dissolved oxygen levels. These are two indicators of algae growth. As of 8/1, the algae that are present haven’t been releasing high levels of microcystin. Based on an algae ID sample, we have at least 12 different types of algae in our lake. This is not uncommon for lakes to have multiple species. Not all algae species produce harmful toxins.
We will continue to monitor the lake water weekly with our in-house tests and observations. The weekly lab test will continue through August. The most recent sample was pulled on 8/9. We should have those results back by 8/15. Thank you
