Fireworks – Against Lake Rules / Against The LAW
We are within one month of the annual Fireworks Display here at Choctaw Lake. Each year, during this time, Patrol answers numerous complaints regarding illegal fireworks. While over the past few years the reports have decreased, we still receive them.
It is important to remember and adhere to the following:
Lake Rule 35, F – The use of firearms, fireworks, guns or explosives of any kind within the Choctaw Lake subdivision is strictly prohibited, except for fireworks presentations officially sponsored by the CLPOA. … Persons violating this rule shall be subject to a $150 fine for the first offense, $200 for the second and $300 for each additional offense.
MORE IMPORTANTLY, 3743.65 (B) of the OHIO REVISED CODE … no person shall discharge, ignite, or explode any fireworks in this state. 3743.99 (C) of the Ohio Revised Code … Whoever violates division … (B) of section 3743.65 … is guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree.
While not popular, these rules and/or laws will be enforced in order that all remain safe and tranquil. Thanks to all for your support to us!
Boat and Miscellaneous Vehicle Registration Stickers
As a reminder Lake Rule 15, B, 1 states “All Miscellaneous Vehicles owned, leased or under the control of property owners that are operated on Choctaw Lake roads or on the Lake shall have a current CLPOA recreational vehicle sticker displayed thereon …”
Lake Rule 17, B, 3 states “All watercraft operated on Choctaw Lake shall have a current CLPOA watercraft sticker displayed …”
Lake Rule 17, B, 4 states “Boats not properly registered with the CLPOA shall be ordered immediately removed from Choctaw Lake …”
In order to begin enjoying the summer this Memorial Day weekend, I encourage everyone to stop by the Lake Office and obtain all appropriate stickers before the end of next week. No boat will be permitted on the Lake without the 2017 sticker. Lake citations are being issued for non-current stickers on both watercraft on the Lake and miscellaneous vehicles . Remember, Friday May 26 at 4:00 P.M. will be you LAST opportunity to obtain the current sticker before the Memorial Day weekend begins. The office will be closed Monday May 29 and Lake Patrol can not issue these stickers.
On behalf of the Deputies and Boat Patrol Officers, I want to wish everyone a safe, compliant, and enjoyable 2017 summer.
