Hello,
Major progress was made last week with the Blackfoot Hollow project. Rip rap was installed in the swale. Seeding was completed. We do plan to seed as needed in 4-5 weeks; especially with the amount of rain we received over the weekend. Even knowing the risk due to the amount of rain forecasted, it was important we finished grading and seeding prior to the Tropical Storm. By not completing, we would have been pushed back at least 3 weeks with this project. We should start to see grass germinate in the next 7-10 days.
Additional work planned for this area:
- Tree pruning to raise tree canopies.
- Cutting back the underbrush growing along the creek. At this time we will also be cutting back the brush along the West Choctaw “S” Curve
- Stump grinding. Grindings will be removed. All areas will be soil and seeded.
- Installation of additional drainage along the swale on the north side. This is for a 30 foot section that is very mucky and lays wet. Once completed, this area will be graded and seeded.
The additional work will be ongoing through the fall.
