We all know to call 811 Dig before you plant your new tree, but do you know to Call Before You Build your new fence, shed, dock or deck?
A fire pit would be lovely this fall – what better way to enjoy the cooler evenings?
How about an outdoor kitchen, complete with bar and under-counter fridge?
A pergola with climbing vines and a porch swing underneath would make that good book even better.
That front porch has always been too small, the boat dock needs to be longer, garage needs another bay, and the back yard needs to be fenced for the new dog.
All of these projects have one thing in common – YOU NEED A BUILDING PERMIT before the first hole is drilled or nail is pounded. Call the office (740-852-2593)! If you don’t need a permit, they will happily tell you and you are good to go. If you do need a permit, they have the form, there is a fee, an inspector will come out, look at what you want to do, and either okay your project or, if it’s not okay, suggest ways to make it acceptable, safer, nicer, etc.
So, before you start, call 740-852-2593 (call before you build). Save yourself the embarrassment of getting caught and the expense of a do-over.
Thank you!
