Free Fire Wood

October 4, 2017

There is a stack of wood available in old maintenance building lot.  This is the gravel lot by the Chickasaw/Oneida intersection.  The wood is from a dead Ash Tree that was cut down by a resident volunteer.  First come, first serve!

Thanks Jeff Pitt for you help with removing dead trees.

Volunteers bringing the heat!

September 27, 2017

This past weekend/week, the numerous Choctaw volunteers worked through summer like temperatures to continue beautifying our community.  Painting was the hot topic once again.  Areas include the East entrance, West police office, Oneida Drive intersection, Palouse Drive signs/mailboxes, Chickasaw/West Choctaw signs, Lodge mailboxes, signage in/around the lodge park/beach area, and the door frames at the Lodge.  Below are a few photo’s capturing the fun and high quality work.  Again, all work was completed by volunteer residents.

HOW ABOUT OUR NEW FRONT DOOR ON THE WEST SIDE!?  (East side will soon look the same after some siding repairs.  East side, your new front door is coming soon!)

Painting hasn’t been the only volunteer efforts this past week.  Volunteer residents have been stapling documents, and stuffing envelopes this past week to prepare for the October 24th Property Owners Meeting.  This information will soon be mailed to all residents.  Be on the lookout!

Thanks again to all that volunteer.  It is a tremendous help.  The community thrives on your efforts.  Painting may be getting the spot light right now, but appreciation also goes out to those that continue to spend their own time working on community committees, clubs, or your own project.  Many of you are also very busy doing the things that go unnoticed, like planning and tracking data(or as I like to call it…the dirty work).  All very important to current and future success.  Keep it up, it will pay off.

Good things are happening at Choctaw!

Have fun!

Fresh Paint…Get your fresh paint!!

September 19, 2017

Bob Ross is smiling down on Choctaw with our HAPPY painted street signs and mailbox stands.

Painting volunteers put in a strong effort this past weekend.  The picture of the street post of Old Columbus/West Choctaw does not do justice.  Be sure to look at this post, and then look at the post on your street.  You will see a huge difference.

Can we get volunteers on each street to paint their street post? We will provide the paint. If interested in making your street post shine, contact Sheena Helm on FB, Next Door, or email her at slittlehelm@gmail.com  Feel free to also contact me, Mike Casimir, by calling the office.

Big thanks goes out to the painting all-star squad of Vicki Presnell, Charlotte Michael, and Ruth Sowers for painting 3 mailbox stands over the weekend. They painted the mailbox stands on the far end of West Choctaw and the two stands on Karok.

Give a thumbs up to this team for their efforts to enhance the community.  Dean Miller, Brenda O’Conner, Tom Hitesman, Erin Hitesman, Lynn Forster, Ruth Sowers, Vicki Presnell, Charlene Wilson, Charlotte Michael, Norma Maestas-Grapp, Zeke Grapp, Bob O’Conner, and Connie Resch.  By the way, Connie does not live in our community.  She is a family member of a resident that just wanted to join in the fun!  Very cool Connie!

A special thank you goes out to Sheena Helm for organizing the efforts.  I know this team has only begun.  It’s a fun group.

You would be a good addition to this team!

Volunteer Goodness

September 8, 2017

On September 8th, Dave Wheatley, Ken Petry, and Al Hedrick helped unload a trailer load of pallet racks at the maintenance shop; on their own time.  The pallet racks will be very useful for organizing the maintenance shop.   This will also help us provide room to store items inside the shop that were previously stored outside.

For this project, Dave has also spent a lot of personal time finding, disassembling, and delivering the racks.  Appreciate the extra effort Dave!

Nice work Dave, Ken, and Al.  I appreciate you 3 volunteering your time.
