Lake Water Observations and Testing

June 10, 2020

The Lake Water Quality Committee has begun monitoring the lake water conditions and algae activity. This past week, we did observe algae growth starting. We will continue to monitor and respond accordingly.

Please take time to read the signs posted at the beach, marina, and the dam. These signs provide information on what to look for when using the lake water.

Not all algae are bad. However, there are types of algae that produce toxins that can be harmful when at a certain limit. Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) can produce a toxin called Microcystin. This is the toxin we test for when we send water samples into the lab.

If you are in doubt about the water conditions that you see, it is advised that you stay out.

The Lake Water Committee will do our best to keep you up to date on conditions. We will share the Microcystin test results when they are taken.

Thank you

Proposed Constitutional Changes: October 29th Property Owners Meeting

October 9, 2019

The Rules and Regs committee will be proposing a few changes to the constitution during the upcoming Property Owner’s Meeting.

The attached document states the changes. Items in red are proposed to be removed. Items highlighted yellow are being proposed to be added.

For changes to be approved, there must be a vote of 75, or more, full voting members in good standing during the property owner’s meeting. The motion would need approval by majority of the 75, or more, full voting members.

Below is the link to the proposed revisions.

Election Committees Need You!

October 1, 2019

CLPOA Board of Trustee election season is almost upon us and we need you to help make it a success!

The Board is looking to fill the following positions:

Nominating Committee: 2-3 positions

In accordance with Section 3A of the CLPOA Constitution the Nominating committee conducts the annual election. This includes soliciting and securing candidates, securing their resumes for publication, and ensuring ballots are distributed to CLPOA property owners. The CLPOA office staff assists in the administrative work (i.e. to publish the resumes, mail the ballots, etc.). The volunteer commitment will be completed by the first week of February, possibly earlier.

Ballot Counting Committee: 1 position.

The Ballot Counting committee meets the first week of February to count the ballots in accordance with Section 3B of the CLPOA Constitution. This includes verifying received ballots are valid, counting valid ballots and notifying the winning and losing candidates. Recently, the committee has worked diligently to streamline and document its processes to make it easier on all involved. This commitment will be completed by the first week of February 2020.

Please call the office if you are interested in volunteering for either committee. The Board makes its appointment this Tuesday, October 8.

This post was updated to reflect an accurate number of positions needed on the Nominating committee

Message from the Lake Water Quality Committee

August 28, 2019

As many know, a treatment was made on August 16th to knock down algae growth, and to prevent Microcystin levels from increasing. This week we received our lab results from samples taken on August 20th. The treatment produced desired results. The levels dropped from 1.54 ppb to 0.30 ppb. We are well below the lowest warning level of 6.0 ppb.

Make some memories on the water this weekend! The lake water is in great shape.

Lake Water Quality Update

August 14, 2019

On Wednesday August 14th, the below signs were installed that the Beach, Marina, George’s Fork, and at the Dam. These signs follow the EPA communication protocol at state parks.

Water samples from August 5th returned this week. Our microcystin level is at 1.44 parts per billion. The first level of advisory is to be posted when levels reach 6 parts per billion.

The LWQ team will continue to monitor the lake water. The team will continue to communicate updates on water conditions and LWQ operations.

Please share this communication with your family and guest. The more communication to those using the water the better. Remember, “When in doubt, stay out”

Thank you – LWQ Committee
