Speeding on the lake

June 8, 2022

Boat patrol has been documenting some high speeds on the lake. Unlike the roadways, we can only point to residents and guests of residents for speeding issues. There are no delivery companies or contractors operating boats and jet skies. Since Memorial Day weekend, boat patrol recorded speeds of 45, 54, 47, 55, and 45. One of these violations was in a no-wake zone.

Our boat patrol team will continue to enforce the best they can. However, if they are needing to enforce, a decision to be unsafe has already happened. I know the entire community does not read these messages. Any help spreading the word is appreciated. Lake safety and lake enjoyment is a result of how those on the water choose to operate.

The speed limit is 35 mph during the day. Idle speed in all areas during dusk/evening, nighttime, and before daylight.

Boat/Misc Vehicle Stickers

May 25, 2022

It’s setting up to be a very nice weekend…..A perfect weekend to be on the water. Please be sure you stop by the office to get your boat stickers. I’m sure you may get annoyed if boat patrol stops you due to not having a proper 2022 sticker. Eliminate this situation by stopping in the office Thursday or Friday between 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM.

Be safe out there,

Mike

2022 Guest Passes

May 18, 2022

The guest passes for 2022 are orange. If your guests are using the yellow 2021 pass, they will be asked to leave. Guest passes are needed if a property owner’s guest is using the common areas without a Choctaw Lake resident. This includes using the beach.

Patrol and, at times, boat patrol staff will be monitoring the beach this year. We will not have a staff member at the beach at all times, but periodic checks will be performed.

Staff members may not know who you are, even if you lived at the lake for a long time. Please be respectful to them if they ask you for ID. They are just doing their job.

Please be sure you have the correct pass. You can pick up your guest pass at the CLPOA Office. The perfect time to grab one is when you get your stickers for boats and miscellaneous vehicles.

Thank you
