The purpose of this group is for social opportunities and engaging in civic and philanthropic activities to support our lake and local communities.
Mindful Mothers has been in existence for 35+ years. The early years were spent with emphasis on children, families, family life, education, moral and spiritual values, and physical and mental health. In the past Mindful Mothers has provided changing tables for the Lodge and Arrowhead, highchairs, tables and chairs for the Lodge, playground equipment, flowers and money for lake beautification, picnic tables and benches for the beach, street signs for slowing down for children, and many other projects. The group continues to work with the lake manager for current needs.
After hitting the 30 year mark many Mothers are now Grandmothers. The group still gets together socially and still engages in civic and philanthropic activities. A few of our largest endeavors include Pink-O-Ween Bunco in October (all monies go to support The American Cancer Society), providing a Wish List and Christmas Bags for rest home patients in December, and sponsoring a spring bazaar the first Saturday of every March. The group supports Choctaw Booster Club, Choctaw Garden Club, H.E.L.P. House, Welcome Table, what use to be “A Friend’s House,” Rocking Horse Community Health Center, Sufficient Grace, and many other local charities.
Watch for upcoming events of Mindful Mothers on the Community Calendar and in the Peace Pipe.
