Lake Water Quality Update

August 1, 2018

Choctaw Lake Water Quality –

Lake water quality monitoring continues on a weekly basis and our lake is in good shape.  Microcystin concentration was 0.87 ppb in our latest lab analysis, which is much less than health advisory levels and far below levels reported recently at Ohio state park beaches.

As an aside, one part per billion (1.0 ppb) is analogous to one car in bumper-to-bumper traffic from Columbus to San Francisco.  It’s not much.
