I would like to highlight Carter Forster. Carter is 8 years old. He and his father Karl, spent time this winter to work on a project for the community. They built a beautiful Purple Martin bird house. The bird house is installed on the north Jetty by the beach. We have some Purple Martins that will be living in style this year!
When asked why they chose this project Karl stated “we chose this project as a small way to give back to the community that has been very welcoming to us, and as a way to continue to preserve our nature at the lake.” This is not the first wood working project these two have worked on together. They have also built a Pinewood Derby Car for Cub Scouts. Carter has also participated in kids projects at Lowes and Home Depot. The passion for constructing definitely shows in the bird house.
While Karl enjoyed the entire experience, Carter stated that his favorite part was painting the birdhouse. He is also very proud that their project is going to help the birds in the Choctaw Lake community.
