What an amazing turnout this year for the annual 4th of July fishing tournament held at the marina!
The Dock at Choctaw Lake and Ernies Medicine Shoppe welcomed 176 sleepy entries at 6am on the foggy morning of the fourth to cast their reels for a chance to take the 2017 tournament titles. Entries fished for Crappie, Bluegill, Catfish, Bass and the ever interesting kitchen sink (anything you can catch we will judge…except snakes).
Over 350 neighbors joined us at weigh in to celebrate the winners and join in the festivities. Participants were welcomed to complimentary doughnuts, coffee, popcorn, hot dogs, ice cream and amazing prizes! Prizes this year included two flat screen televisions, a motorized skate board, a Bluetooth karaoke sound system, two bicycles, pool floaties and coolers full of goodies to keep the holiday rolling along! Additionally winners in each of our fishing categories took home brand new fishing rods and reels.
The greatest part of this long-running event is not the prizes, but seeing the neighbors support the participants and this event every year. We are reminded every July why we love Choctaw Lake and what we do. Thank you to all of the participants and supporters. We look forward to bigger and better next year.
