Crews will finish up the asphalt work on Thursday 10/6!! The trail will be completely open on Saturday 10/8. I know it will be tempting, but please avoid walking or riding your bike in the new area, Blackfoot Hollow Area, and along the Marina, until Saturday. This is the area that was asphalted on Wednesday 10/5 and Thursday 10/6. The reason is to give the asphalt at least 36-48 hours to harden.
Again, please avoid driving your golf cart on the paths. The reason is to maintain safe paths for bikes and pedestrians.
The maintenance crews will continue putting up the pedestrian crossing warning and crossing signs. Please note that our 12-foot posts have not come in yet. We are currently installing the signs on the 10′ post that we have in inventory. The signs may look a little low to the ground, but we will adjust once the post comes in. The goal is to at least install the signage for safety. The crosswalk lines will not be painted until the first of next week. Our original plan was to paint them on Friday, but the weather is going to be too cold for a good paint job.
The CLPOA crew will continue with the restoration along the paths. This is a big chore but it’s going very well. We will just keep chugging along until it’s finished.
I have a neat fun find to share with everyone. This week we cut some volunteer trees and shrubs along the path in the Blackfoot Hollow area. The canopy of one of the trees surrounded a utility pole. Once we removed the tree, the sign pictured below became visible.

In my 5 years working here, I have never noticed this sign. I asked a few people about this. My sources state that there used to be a BMX track in this area. I guess there were several areas in the community that had some BMX tracks. I didn’t get the exact dates the tracks were used, but I am guessing it was in the 80s. Either way, neat sign with some fun history of the community. I plan to keep the sign on the post. Be on the lookout for it during your stroll on the trail!
