What’s up with the blue paint in the lawns??

May 11, 2022

This week we finished up locating the water curb valves on the east side of the community. These are the service valves for the line that provides water to your house. All valves are marked in the yard with blue paint. We also painted a mark on the road. The paint used is just marking paint. It is not permanent.

This is phase one of the GIS mapping of our water utilities. Before we can start to create our digital map, we needed to find the valves. Many were covered in grass or buried with several inches of soil. The next step is for our GIS partners to digitally map the data.

Over the next 14 days, you may see a crew in the front yard holding a pole with a round device on top of it. This is the device that will create our Geographic Information System.

Our goal is to have the east side completely mapped out, including data in the system, by June 1. Once this is completed, we will begin on the west side of the community. As you can imagine, it takes time to find all the valves in the yard. Our goal is to have the west side of the community completed by fall.

If you know where your valve is located, you would be helping us out a lot by edging it out or uncovering it. Thanks!

Mike
